Walking Sticks

SINCE 1998, the Lord has given our family of 19 churches the privilege to minister at our Allegany County(July 18-25) and Garrett County(August 8-15) Fairs.  Built around our Baby Comfort Station, a tent that offers, free of charge, a clean place to change and/or feed baby. there are the following ministries...

ALLEGANY CO. VESPERS SERVICE:  For the seventh consecutive year, our association will lead this service on the opening night of the fair, at the Ag/Expo Pavilion. 

REITHOFFER APPRECIATION SUPPER:  For the third year, we'll host the employees of Reithoffer Amusements(the Allegany Fair midway providers) and their families for a free supper, 4 pm, Wednesday of the fair. 

WALKING STICK WITNESS:  2010 will be the eleventh year we've used these, an idea borrowed from the Maryland Fellowship of Christian Farmers at the Maryland State Fair, to share with adults 18 and older how to "walk with the Lord". 

We determine how many walking sticks we order each year by the amount of offerings sent in by churches and individuals for us to use to purchase sticks by June 1st.  Local volunteers then attach the colored beads(a la the eternal life bracelets).  If you'd like contribute, please send your check, made out to "Western Baptist Association", with "walking sticks" in the memo line, to Western Baptist Association, 1101 National HWY, La Vale, MD 21502.
