Big Bands
Our associational missionary hosts a 1930s and 40s big band show, every Friday from 6-9 pm, Eastern time, on Frosturg State University's WFWM radio(91.9 FM; 96.3 FM around Oakland, MD; sorry, no webcast). "Jukebox Friday Night" features bands like Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Tommy Dorsey, and Kay Kyser, and some of the era's great vocalists, like Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. Kenny has hosted a big band radio show since his college days(the late 70s) on stations in Baltimore, the Eastern Shores of both Maryland and Virginia, and North Carolina, mostly as a volunteer. To find out more, please send him an e-mail at the "Contact Us" link.
***KENNY'S "LIVE SHOW" "ON TOUR"*** Kenny has a 45-minute live show of the 1930s and 40s that he will bring to your senior adult group(or anyone else who likes the music of that era) FREE(and that's exactly what it's worth!). Choose either "Memories of the Big Band Era" or "Ole-Time Country and Western". Kenny sings along with vintage recordings, while presenting a PowerPoint of photos of the stars who made them great. Along the way, he tells some jokes that remind one of a certain kind of cheese. Best of all, lyrics to the songs are also projected on screen, so everyone can sing along!
